This is not a traditional sandy beach. Instead, you meet the northern Norwegian coast as many of us know it – with clear rocky cliffs, clear fjord water and plenty of space to find your own place along the water's edge.
A small excursion from the campsite
The bathing area is just below Lundhøgda Camping and is a popular starting point for both visitors and permanent residents. The area is easily accessible by car, bicycle or on foot, and is well suited for a short afternoon walk or a quiet summer evening by the fjord.
Many of our guests use the area as one of several stops during their stay at Lundhøgda.
Bathing in the northern Norwegian way
Skjerstadfjorden offers clean and fresh water throughout the summer. Along the fjord you will find both small gravel sections and larger rocky cliffs that are well suited for swimming, sunbathing or just a quiet moment with a view of the fjord and the mountains on the opposite side.
On hot summer days, this is a great place to spend a few hours with family and friends.
Arranged for activity and fun
The area is well organized with several facilities:
- Barbecue area and seating areas
- Lifebuoy and safety equipment
- Garbage cans
- Grass areas for play and living
- Sand volleyball court
- Benches and living areas with a view of the fjord
Feel free to bring volleyball, a fishing rod or a simple packed lunch and enjoy the day by the water.
View towards the fjord and mountains
One of the things that makes the area special is the open view. From here you can look out over the Skjerstadfjord with the mountains as a setting around the landscape. On quiet days, the fjord is almost mirror-gloss, and the area is just as suitable for photography as it is for swimming.
For many, this is a place you return to several times during your stay.

The bathing area at Lund is just one of many experiences in the area around Lundhøgda Camping. From the campsite you also have a short distance to the center of Fauske, mountain tours, fishing spots and several of the most popular attractions in Salten.
Lundhøgda is a good starting point for experiencing the region – while at the same time you can retreat to quiet surroundings with a view of the fjord when the day is over.
